A paranoid king has Pole’s relations executed for treason as he looks for a new wife. Oily Bishop Gardner splits on Protestant ‘heretic’ John Lambert, who is killed for his beliefs and who is a friend of Cromwell, whom the bishop tries, unsuccessfully, to incriminate.Based on Holborn’s portraits of Anne and her sister, the king opts for Anne as his bride.
